Born in Curaçao, a small island off the coast of Venezuela, Terry Cristina would grow up listening to all types of music due to the many different sounds of caribbean music. He would first fall in love with hip hop at the tender age of 9, and was soon writing poems and loose bars. It was till the age of 16 he would write his first full fledged 16 bars after hearing music of local/international rapgroups like CrusadE and Immorales. But he still wasn't serious about a career in rapping. Meanwhile he and, Roel "Dj Roro" Pieter started their own version of Freestyle Fridayz at their high school. It blew up, but had to be shut down due to creative differences between some MC's who participated in the event. It was then that Terry C. would start pursuing rap more seriously, writing full songs and recording these in his room which he and DJ Roro dubbed as 'Den Kamber Studios'. During this period, he met Don Classico and shortly after that they recorded Terry's first single "Realize" using a beat sampled from Mobb Deep's "Quiet Storm". Terry had to choose an artist name for which to release his music under, and chose Spider Black as a suiting monnicker. The letters S.P.I.D.E.R. stand for Skillful Positive Individual Deliverin Extraordinary Rhymes. These words capture Terry's unique characteristics and abilities as a young man, an artist and a person as a whole. It didn't take long before Spider was grinding out songs for his debut album "State of Mind", and with a few hits under his belt and a lot more in store, Spider Black is working hard on bringing a new unique and innovative flavor to the table. Now, relocated in Maastricht, the Netherlands, Spider Black turned his room into a recording studio and dubbed it "CornerHouse Studios" . Here he is still recording tracks for his "State of Mind" album, which he will executive produce himself and will be released independantly through Den Kamber Productions/Spider Black Music Group. |
